Should I study at Northern Michigan University or Michigan Technological University? I went to Northern Michigan University for my Freshman year of college and was disillusioned by the programs offered there. Then, I found out that the nearby Michigan Technological University offered a major I was actually very interested in - Communication and Culture Studies. I applied there, out of curiosity, and ended up being accepted; now, though, I don't know what to do. For as much as the Communication and Culture Studies major from Michigan Tech appeals to me, I'm skeptical about attending a school where majors in the Humanities seem to be represented. The alternative, though - struggling to find direction in a school that caters to the Humanities but not well enough to provide a single major I want - doesn't seem much better. I can't decide whether to try Michigan Tech and risk feeling ostracized by my studies or to return to Northern and hope things will improve. Would anyone be willing to help? An outside opinion of any sort would be a godsend right now. While I'd appreciate thoughts and input from absolutely anyone willing to offer them, it would be so helpful if there were any Michigan Tech students out there willing to share their thoughts on this issue! Specifically, Humanities students?

A MassComm Degree: Nanyang Technological University or Murdoch University? I'm torn between these two; My lecturer suggested that I better go to Murdoch for its known Journalism school. However, I'm leaning towards NTU for its longstanding MassComm department reputation. I need a broader perspective, so any other universities suggestions are welcomed. A fellow at work who is a Sri-Lankan wants to send her son to Indonesia. Her son wanted to study electrical engineering, I'm an electrical engineer graduated from a reputable university in Italy. She doesn't have that much to send her son to Singapore nor Australia (the living cost & tuition fee are unaffordable for her - she's just a crane instructor). The Indian Institute of Technology has limited the allocation of international students. So she planned to send him to Indonesia or Thailand. Let's see, I'm in 3rd year high school, and things are looking up this year after my escapades in my sophomore year, my average in freshman and sophomore year were around 80-83. I know, it's pretty bad but this year, I am confident to make a huge splash since this year is an important year to colleges. Some of the courses I am thinking of are: 1) Masters of Financial Engineering (National University of Singapore) 2) Masters of Financial Engineering (Nanyang Technological University) 3) CFA Exams - but I don't have experience hence can only take the exams, not get the CFA designation 4) Masters of Applied Finance (Macquarie University) 5) Masters of Applied Finance (University of Adelaide) Or is an MBA with Finance concentration a better idea? I'm not so keen on management topics at this stage of my career though - maybe later
