Canadian University Scholarship Revoked? Hi, I just had a chat with my colleague recently and he told me this: - He was granted a yearly scholarship of $2000 for the duration of his four years of undergraduate studies ONLY IF he kept a GPA of 3.0 which is 80% - During his first semester of his first year of studies, he only obtained a GPA of 2.0 - However, by the end of his second semester, he received a GPA of 3.0 - He is currently enrolled in a summer school course which he hopes will get him a high enough grades to obtain a total average GPA of 3.0 (80%) - Recently he received a letter that states his scholarship has been revoked and will not continue for the remainder of his undergraduate studies - After e-mailing his post-secondary school without any luck or replies, he was wondering ... "IF he receives an average GPA of 3.0 by the end of his summer school, would he be able to gain his scholarship back?" OR once the university has revoked his offer ... is that irreversible or no longer attainable (Permanent)? He is relying on this scholarship to help his families financial situation.

Canadian scholarships? Hi. I'm currently a junior at an American high school in the U.S.. I'm a Canadian citizen and planning to apply to a Canadian university. Could people please provide me with some good scholarship websites or any source that offers sholarships to Canadian undergraduates?
Are there any scholarships for Canadian students wishing to study abroad in the UK? I am a Canadian student who is interested in studying abroad in Scotland after having high school completed. *I would like to study Fine Arts at the University of Dundee. I was wondering if there are any scholarships or bursaries offered to students who are planning on studying in a different country, and where I can find information about them.
Getting into a Canadian university as an American? I've heard that canadian colleges and universities use grades from high school to admit students. Is this true and as an american would they accept US scores or would I have to take the SAT or some other test? ALSO: What are some good schools in Canada that aren't too expensive without a scholarship? Preferably southern Canada and not in Québec.
Canadian Students Eligible for Scholarships in USA Universities? A friend of mine's daughter has a serious problem. They are Canadian citizens and have been in the USA legally for several years on a TN Work Visa. The daughter attends High School and has been getting good grades in an IB program. She wants to attend a USA university. Unfortunately, it appears most USA universities consider her an International student, even though her mother has been paying taxes in the USA. The daughter is not eligible for in-state tuition at public universities, and both public and private universities say she is not eligible for need-based or merit scholarships. Private universities even require evidence of liquid assets of a full year's expenses — ie evidence of $50,000 in a bank account before they will offer a place... It looks like bank loans are also not available. A green card takes several years, so that's not an option. One Admission Officer says her university has no aid provision for Canadian students (assistance for "foreign" students is usually given to poverty-stricken Africans or South Americans). But she says some prestigious private USA universities do consider Canadian (and Maxican) students the same as USA students for admission and scholarship purposes. So, can anyone name some USA universities which welcome Canadian students and offer need/merit scholarships?
Best Canadian University to study MBA? Hi, i would like to know the name of the best Canadian University. Early of the next year, i wish to start my study. Please tell me the the name of best Canadian university to study MBA with a scholarship. However, what about studying a Diploma instead of MBA? Which one plays a giant role on Canadian job market? I am really excited to know it...
Are excess scholarships taxed by the Canadian Government? I am a first year student at a Canadian University. I received some scholarships for my first year. After the fees were paid, I received some money back from the university due to excess funds. I received a T4A which said I have to state the excess amount under "Other Income." I thought scholarships were tax-free?? Also, I paid for my books with my own earnings from working at a part-time job. I would really appreciate it if someone could provide me with a step-by-step detailed answer as to what I should do when I am filing my return. Also, I received a government scholarship. Is that taxable as well?
Where can I find INTERNATIONAL scholarships? I currently live in Toronto, but I'm undecided as to whether I want to study in Canada, in the USA, or in Europe. All the scholarship sites I've visited so far promote scholarships to Canadian universities only. Where can I find scholarships that apply to ANY country? I was thinking maybe international organizations, like UNESCO or WHO ... Do they offer scholarships? Please help.
Should American AND Canadian universities compete in collegiate sports? I think it would be awesome to see Canadian schools in bowl games or March Madness. Some might say that the Canadian schools wouldn't provide enough competition. It is true that almost all Canadian schools do not offer athletic scholarships, but think about this. University of Toronto is more than 3 times the size (in student population) of Cleveland State University, a school that made it to the 2nd round of March Madness.

Can anyone help me to get scholarships for Canadian law school? Hi there! I'm looking for different sources of funding to finance a degree at a law school in Canada. I'm a Hungarian citizen, U.S. permanent resident and I have a bachelor's degree in linguistics from the University of Cambridge. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
Are Canadian University's better than NCAA schools at basketball? For a few years running the top teams in the CIS ... that is Canadian University sports have been competing well with NCAA Div 1 teams in basketball ACTUALLY they have been dominating the none power conferences in Div 1 and playing tight games with the top tier teams. Example : Carleton University has beat Northeastern University 77-47, beat University of South Alabama 78-59, beat Buffalo U. 84-74 and lost to Kansas on a buzzer shot 84-83 (that is the defending national champs Kansas) this year. I realize that pre-season games are not important but why are Canadian universitys with recruiting rules similar to Div 3 consistently beating us or even competing. Just for note last year they lost to Illinois in OT and beat Alabama Crimson Tide 83-72. I realize Div 1 teams have more talent and through the year develop into better teams but CIS teams have no scholarships and should get blown out like Div2 and Div3 teams do. My real question is how can they even stay within 60 points with none scholarship teams?
cheapest university in Canada? well, here's my question: which are the cheapest universities in Canada for doing an undergraduate degree? and, here's my situation: i am presently in the UK and my parents have applied for the Canadian PR(Permanent Residency). I will be with them as their dependant. I want to be a dentist so am planning to do a major in similar field or at least taking pre-dentl courses with some major. Then after 4 years of bachelors deegree, i can apply to Canadian Universities as home student as i will hopefully get the PR by then. How do u think about this? will i still be able to pursue my career towards dentistry even if i dont get the Canadian PR through scholarships?? i would consider you serious answers please and i know canadians are not racist which is why we have applied for the PR in Canada and not else where. Thanks.
Canadian scholarships for science competitions? Are there scholarships for extracurriculars such as science competitions other than science fair? I placed in the top few of quite a few chemistry competitions but when I asked UBC if I get any scholarships for them, they said I get NOTHING. I have noticed that most of the scholarships are based on leadership and I don't have a chance compared to the people focusing on leadership skills. Are there universities that offer scholarships for them? I know that Ontario Universities offer $1000 research scholarship for the chem 13 news but not UBC. Our school had them. 9 students get nominated (top2%). Unfortunately im not in the top 2% and even if they get the scholarship, 7 of the 9 students are going to the US (harvard, stanford, yale, etc). So I didn't even get a chance to apply for it :(.
American Student at Canadian University? I was recently accepted to The University of Toronto. I would love nothing more than to attend this fabulous school. However I'm seeking more financial information about the school, and what scholarship/awards are available to international students. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Canadian Universities vs. American Universities? As a student studying in a Canadian high school, would going into a Canadian Medical or Law school be a better option for me, than going into a U.S. Medical or Law school? Does studying into U.S.A. make my chances for getting a scholarship less? I think so because the Canadian govt. grants higher scholarships to students studying in Canada than studying elsewhere. Also, will I be granted scholarships from an American University if I plan to study there. I am a Canadian citizen. Secondly, does Canada recognize Medical or Law education from the U.S.A. and vice versa? How are the job prospects in these fields in the U.S.A. as compared to Canada?
Does a foreign student in Canada have to pay tax on his GRA and TA scheme? I recently received an scholarship from canadian university for my MS in Mechanical Eng. The scholarship is in 3 scheme>> 1. International student awar (6000$), 2. Research assistance of 11000$ and 3. teaching asst of apprx 7000$. are these schemes taxable? do students need to pay tax? in my country (Bangladesh), students dont have to pay tax. what is the scenario in Ontario Canada?
What are some of the best Canadian Veterinary Universities? I have been looking into this, and I would like to know if anyone woud know which ones they would reccomend? I have heard that Saskatchewan is good, but does anyone else have some other reccomendations. I really want to know about scholarships specifically for that school too.
I need help regarding university? I'm a Canadian high school student (in grade eleven). I am starting to consider university because I have to apply this October/November/December. I've done quite a bit of research on Canadian universities and with my marks and everything, I'm pretty much guaranteed entry to any program at any university that I want. Thing is, I don't know if I want to challenge myself more. There are several universities in the US that are very, very prestigious - more so that Canadian ones, despite the fact that there are indeed some very good Canadian universities. However in order to apply to the US, I'll have to take the SATs. I don't know if it's worth it to do so. Not only will it take up a lot of time (studying) but also will cost money to take them and also to apply to these American universities (roughly $50-$75 an application). In addition, there isn't that much financial aid available to international students so that's another issue. University in the US will cost around $60,000/year depending on where you go. It might be a little more for international students. Compare this price to Canadian universities, where the cost is less than $20,000/year with everything included. Also, there are several scholarships available to Canadian students, especially those with statistics (grades, volunteer hours, extra curriculars, etc) that I have. I could potentially get at LEAST half of that paid for, which would put me in a pretty good position. There are several scholarships that I qualify for. I have compiled a rather large list of available scholarships and if I play my cards right and things go my way, I could land a scholarship that could potentially pay for my entire undergraduate career. I plan to go to graduate school or law school, if that makes a difference. There are several good Canadian universities but they just don't compare to those in the US. Besides, going to the US would look extremely good on me and people would be really impressed. I don't know. Thing is, it doesn't matter where you go for your undergraduate degree, provided that you maintain a high GPA and everything. If you go to graduate schools, that's the only thing that matters - not where you get your undergraduate degree.
canadian universities...help needed? hi, i finished my high school with 92% ...i wanted to apply for canadian universities... do i still have time which university can i apply for i want to do computer engineering...which university is good can i get scholarships?
What scholarships or bursaries are available for a Canadian and EU citizen studying in Europe? I am a Canadian citizen, but born in Poland (I have EU citizenship as well). Therefore, I am eligible for free schooling in most countries which offer free tuition. I have a BA in Communications and Political Science from a recognized university in Canada, but would like to study for my Masters degree abroad. Because I can get my schooling for free, I am looking for scholarships/bursaries which will allow me to use the funds for living (which I would supplement with employment, as well). I am most interested in studying in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland), Germany or Netherlands, perhaps Poland. Does Poland offer any substantial scholarships for use in either PL or all of the EU? Does Canada offer anything for oversees? How about other nations? I think Sweden offers something like this for anyone, no matter their nationality...
scholarship..international student? do ant canadian universities have scholarships for international students??? if yes can u name them plz! there was a second answer to my question y did yahoo delete it?
canadian universities? I'm an American junior college student applying for an Associates in Science. I'm doing very well, and my GPA is 3.6. Hopefully I could win a scholarship with my grades. However, this degree doesn't qualify me for any job - it only opens many doors to other careers by transferring me to a university where I choose my specific major. I want to transfer to a university in Canada because I want to meet new people and get a feel of what it is like to live in Canada because I'm thinking about living there someday. I would like assistance on how I could receive financing options to study in this country. I'm far from being rich person, so I won't be able to pay full tuition on the spot and pay for a place to live. Any suggestions on how I could go through the process of transferring to a Canadian university? Also, if you have been to a Canadian university, I would like to know what it's like. I would appreciate any answers that I could benefit from.
Does New York University accept transfer students who studied in Canadian Comm. Colleges? I can't apply for NYU since winning a scholarship and FA is difficult. So I'm planning to study in a Comm. College to save money for my Bachelor's. I'll probably attend the College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) and its a Canadian college; does NYU accept transferees from such a school? I live in the Middle East. :D I'm eyeing the Stern School of Business. Oh yeah, if I transfer, do I have to start from the beginning (freshman) or do I go on? Meaning if I finish two years or the equivalent number in the Comm. College, do I continue as a Junior in NYU?
2007 Canadian Taxes - Scholarship Deductions? As far as I know, last year, one did not have to claim scholarship ammounts not exceeding $3000 -- they were tax deductable. Now, my question is, for the year 2007, is it possible to subtract $3000 from one's current scholarship amount which exceeds $3000? Example: I received $5000 in scholarship money (not an Artist's Project Grant, or a Fellowship, etc... just a simple scholarship for a university student -- not an entering highschool graduate). Am I able to subtract the maximum $3000 limit from my $5000, and thus only write $2000 on line 130 (Other Income) on my T1 (my income tax form)? Thank you
How can I decide which university to go to to become a pilot or actuarial scientist at the same time? I'm an IB student taking HL english, HL math, HL Design and Technology, HL Music and SL mandarin as well as SL ITGS (might switch to business (for actuarial) or geography (for piloting) I want to become a pilot but people have advised me to take a solid degree in something before pursuing my pilot's license. So now, i wish to take actuarial science as a degree together with music as an arts minor (or somthing like dat) but at the same time attend a commercial piloting course so when i graduate, i lose no time in becoming a pilot. here's the catch: I'm a Canadian citizen, and since i need to restrict the budget as much as possible, the university's gotta be in canada so it'll be cheaper and more convenient for myself. Question (1) Is there a university that offers professional aviation as a course together $with actuarial science in the SAME university, and if possible with co-op programs for either, or both? Question (2) ( btw, i am short sighted, and many tell me i cannot be a pilot unless i have perfect vision. I found online that several people says thats not true, but is there a website or something where i can find reliable official clarification? i dont want to end up lost later in my life becos i was misinformed about my eyesight. ) Question (3) at the same time, does the university offer any scholarships for IB students? sorry for the bombardment of questions, but thanks in advance.
Taxes - Canadian student in US, dual country income for 2008? I'm a Canadian student currently getting a Ph.D. in the US. In 2008, for 8 months I worked in Canada, and for three I worked in the US. The US tax situation is fairly clear to be, but the Canadian one is a nightmare. Can anybody answer these questions for me or point me towards a helpful website? 1. The tax treaty specifies an exemption of $10,000, and my US income was $5800, so I'm under the limit. How do I report this on my Canadian tax? Every time I enter it in FutureTax, I seem to get double taxed. 2. In Canada, we claim for tuition amounts and for scholarships, etc, but I was under full scholarship and the university here did not give out a tuition form. This is my problem: a scholarship in Canada is counted as income, and if I added my American scholarship as such, it would definitely put me over the $10k exemption. Can I just leave the scholarship amount out, especially since the scholarship went to cover the full tuition amount and nothing else? These are the two basic things I can't figure out.
Is it possible to take only TWE again and how are iBT scores?!!!? I got my TOEFL score 597 with writing(TWE) 3.5. My Writing, I think probably is not good, I want to know its side effect ;D on my appliying to a university??!! (because I'm going to get a scholarship from the US or Canadian Universities). Do anybody know that if it is possible to give only a TWE again or not?!? and as you know the CBT TOEFL TEST has come to an end and there would be no more CBT tests anywhere around the world, so if I want to take another TOEFL test, I should give an iBT but when I look at the minimum scores I see for example the minimum score for writing is 25 out of 30 and This is awfully bad that's like they tell you to take a 5 out of 6 in PBT, but most of the universites want a minumum of 4 for PBT writing. I would be thankful if somebody has got a iBT test experience and share his experience and scores with me.

Can I get into Loyola University (Chicago)? I'm Canadian and I really want to go to Loyola University (Chicago). I just got 1500 on my SAT's without really studying or anything... is this good enough to get in? I usually get low A's and am taking all university courses which is the equivalent of Americas "AP" courses. I'm an athlete and would be going on a scholarship, if that helps. Thank you!!
Which player was named the Canadian baseball player of the half-century in 1950? What Atlanta hurler converted a grounder by John Vander Wal into his 388th career putout, for a major league pitcher’s record? What is the name of Canada’s largest dump truck? Each day you'll find a question in our Survey section called 'Survey Says'. Previously we asked 100 people (actually we asked everyone) "Name a word or phrase which means "taking a nap"." Can you guess the number one answer given? Survey says... Pamela Anderson was a Playboy Playmate for which month in 1990? br> Tim McGraw attended what University on a baseball scholarship?
